Universal Studios Shuttle and Epic Universe Transportation: Every Option Compared
On this page
Short answer
A Universal Studios shuttle can be a free Universal hotel bus (every 10 to 30 minutes to CityWalk, Volcano Bay and Epic Universe), the SuperStar Shuttle from Orlando International Airport (MCO) at $23 per adult one way, or a $2 LYNX bus. For families and groups of up to 14, a private minivan, SUV or van starts at $89 per vehicle.
This guide covers Universal Orlando Resort transportation: Universal's own buses, the Epic Universe shuttle schedule, every shuttle to Universal Studios Orlando from the airport, public transit and private rides, with per-person math for groups.

Is there a free shuttle to Universal Studios?
Yes, if you stay at one of Universal's hotels. Universal runs free shuttle buses from its hotels to CityWalk (the walk-in hub for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure), Volcano Bay and Epic Universe, and the ride takes about 10 to 20 minutes.
How often does the Universal Studios shuttle bus run?
Every 10, 15 or 30 minutes, depending on the hotel. These are Universal's own published frequencies:
| Universal hotel | Shuttle bus | Other free options |
|---|---|---|
| Stella Nova Resort, Terra Luna Resort | Every 10 minutes | Stella Nova is a 5 to 10 minute walk to Epic Universe's Chronos gate |
| Helios Grand Hotel | Every 10 minutes (no bus to Epic Universe) | Its own entrance into Epic Universe |
| Endless Summer (Surfside and Dockside), Cabana Bay, Aventura | Every 15 minutes | Cabana Bay and Aventura have a walking path to Volcano Bay |
| Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls | Every 30 minutes | Water taxi to CityWalk in under 10 minutes; Sapphire Falls also has the Volcano Bay path |
Do hotels near Universal have a shuttle?
Many do, but a hotel's own shuttle runs on a much tighter schedule. Magic Guides reports that Universal Partner Hotel shuttles typically make 1 to 4 trips in the morning and 1 to 4 back in the evening, and seats usually need a reservation at the front desk at least 24 hours ahead. That may not suit early park entry or late events like Halloween Horror Nights.
Non-affiliated hotel shuttles almost always stop at the CityWalk hub, so a day at Epic Universe means a transfer to Universal's free bus, a 10 to 15 minute ride. Our list of hotels near Universal with a shuttle shows which properties run one.
Epic Universe shuttle schedule and transportation
Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025, as Universal Orlando's fourth theme park, with five worlds including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD and the Ministry of Magic, part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It sits on its own campus about 3 miles southeast of the original parks, so Universal now has two separate campuses, and choosing the wrong one in a rideshare app can cost you 20 minutes or more in traffic.
Is there a shuttle from Universal Studios to Epic Universe?
Yes. Universal's free shuttle to Epic Universe runs continuously from the main parking garage, starting two hours before park opening and ending an hour after CityWalk closes, according to The Unofficial Guides. The ride takes about 15 minutes on dedicated bus lanes along Kirkman Road.
| Starting point | How to reach Epic Universe | How often | Ride time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main parking garage or CityWalk | Free Universal bus | Continuous, hours above | About 15 minutes |
| Stella Nova, Terra Luna | Free hotel bus, or walk from Stella Nova | Every 10 minutes | 5 to 7 minutes by bus |
| Endless Summer, Cabana Bay, Aventura | Free hotel bus | Every 15 minutes | About 10 to 20 minutes |
| Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls | Free hotel bus (water taxis don't go to Epic Universe) | Every 30 minutes | About 10 to 20 minutes |
| Helios Grand | Walk in through the hotel's own park entrance | Any time the entrance is open | A few minutes on foot |
| Off-site hotel | Hotel shuttle to CityWalk, then the free garage bus | Your hotel's schedule | Add 10 to 15 minutes |
| MCO Terminal A or Disney Springs | LYNX Link 311, $2 | Check the current LYNX schedule (reduced in April 2026) | About 40 minutes from MCO; 45 to 60 from Disney Springs |
Where do you get dropped off at Epic Universe?
Rideshares, taxis and private drivers continue past the main parking entrance to the color-coded drop-off loops next to accessible parking, and there's no parking fee to use them. Before you go:
- Drop-off address: search "Epic Universe Rideshare" at 1201 Epic Blvd.
- Pickup after the park: meet your ride at the same drop-off loops; using the valet circle for pickups is prohibited. The Helios Grand entrance is for hotel guests in the morning, but anyone can exit through it (The Unofficial Guides).
- Driving yourself: self-parking is $35 per day at the toll plaza, or $32 prepaid in the Universal app, and the same rates apply at both campuses.
Universal Orlando transportation from the airport (MCO)
Universal is about 16 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO), roughly 20 to 30 minutes by road. You have four realistic choices: a shared shuttle, rideshare, a $2 bus or a private vehicle.
What is the SuperStar Shuttle?
The SuperStar Shuttle is Universal's own shared ride from MCO, and it only goes to Universal's hotels. Universal Orlando Vacations lists Dockside, Surfside, Cabana Bay, Aventura, Stella Nova, Terra Luna, Sapphire Falls, Royal Pacific, Hard Rock and Portofino Bay.
- Fares: $23 per adult and $21 per child (3 to 9) one way, or $39 and $36 round trip; ages 2 and under ride free (Magic Guides).
- The ride: about 30 minutes in a 25-passenger shuttle that may stop at other hotels. The Level 1 desk is staffed 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; for off-hours arrivals, get pickup details in advance.
- Where to find it: Level 1, at commercial lanes A30 to A33 in Terminal A or C282 to C283 in Terminal C.
- Not covered: off-site hotels, vacation homes and Orlando Sanford (SFB).
Other ways from MCO to Universal
- Airport benchmarks: MCO's approximate rates to the International Drive area are $2 by local bus, $21 to $33 by shared shuttle van and $38 to $45 by taxi.
- Uber and Lyft: UberX typically runs $28 to $55 and UberXL $35 to $110, depending on surge (third-party estimates). Pickup is on the Arrivals Curb: Level 2 at Terminals A and B, Level 6 at Terminal C.
- LYNX Link 311: $2 from Terminal A to Epic Universe in about 40 minutes (The Unofficial Guides), but LYNX changed this route in April 2026, as below.
SuperStar Shuttle vs a private van: per-person cost
A family of two adults and two children pays about the same either way. Counting adult fares, one JOB vehicle costs less per person from 4 riders up, and goes straight to your door. One way, from MCO:
| Your group | SuperStar Shuttle | JOB vehicle | JOB per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 adults + 2 children (3 to 9) | $88 | Minivan, $89 | $22.25 |
| 4 adults | $92 | Minivan, $89 | $22.25 |
| 6 adults | $138 | Minivan, $89 | $14.83 |
| 8 adults | $184 | 12-passenger van, $145 | $18.13 |
| 10 adults | $230 | 12-passenger van, $145 | $14.50 |
| 12 adults | $276 | 12-passenger van, $145 | $12.08 |
| 14 adults | $322 | 14-passenger van, $165 | $11.79 |
Rideshare math is harder for groups. An UberXL seats up to 6, so 10 people need two XLs at roughly $35 to $110 each, and the luggage may still not fit: see how much fits in an Uber XL. Route details are on our private transportation from MCO to Universal and Epic Universe page.
Public transportation to Universal Studios Orlando
Public transit is the cheapest way to reach Universal, at $2 a ride. It works best if you travel light.
- LYNX buses: a single ride is $2.00, and an all-day pass is $4.50. Link 40 (Americana Boulevard/Universal Orlando) runs to Universal Orlando, and Link 311 runs between Disney, Orlando International Airport and Epic Universe. On April 26, 2026, LYNX stopped serving Helios Grand on Link 311 and reduced service to the Epic Universe bus loop, so check the schedule first.
- I-RIDE Trolley: $2.00 per ride ($1.00 for children 3 to 9) or $8.00 for a one-day pass, daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Red Line trolleys come about every 20 minutes; the Green Line, about every 45 minutes, starts in the Major Blvd., Universal Blvd. and Westwood Blvd. area. No Universal park entrance is a listed stop, so the trolley suits I-Drive hopping more than park days.
With suitcases, a stroller or car seats, each transfer adds time. That's usually when families switch to a private ride.
When does a private SUV or van make more sense?
When the shuttle doesn't go where you're staying, or your group won't fit in one car:
- 7 to 14 travelers: one 12- or 14-passenger Ford Transit instead of two or three rideshares. See our private group shuttle in a 12- or 14-passenger van.
- Staying off-site: Kissimmee vacation homes and International Drive hotels aren't on the SuperStar list.
- Straight to Epic Universe: from the airport, or from a Disney resort with our Disney to Universal transfers.
- Kids in car seats: our guide to Uber with a car seat in Orlando explains the rideshare route. We provide car seats and boosters as our own safety standard, following NHTSA guidance.
- A grocery stop on the way: arranged when you book.
- Spanish-speaking drivers, for families who'd rather plan in Spanish.
- Late or early flights: we drive by reservation (call or WhatsApp to check your time).
