Uber Car Seat in Orlando: Does Uber or Lyft Have Car Seats? (2026 Parent Guide)

On this page

Short answer

Yes, with limits. Uber Car Seat in Orlando adds a $10 surcharge, works by reservation only and carries one forward-facing IMMI GO seat per car, so babies under 2 and second siblings aren't covered. Lyft car seat rides run only in New York City. For more seats, our 6-passenger minivans and SUVs and 12- and 14-passenger vans start at $99.

We're a family-run Orlando car service, so we have a stake in this question. Every Uber and Lyft rule below comes from their own pages, checked October 3, 2026, and we say plainly when Uber Car Seat is the better pick.

Does Uber have car seats in Orlando?

Yes. Orlando is one of seven U.S. cities with Uber Car Seat, along with New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Each car carries one seat, rides are "available by reservation only," and Uber adds a $10 surcharge to the fare.

Only drivers who carry the seat take these trips, and Uber pays them $7 extra per Car Seat trip. So only some Orlando Ubers have car seats, and you can't count on one on demand.

Which car seat does Uber use in Orlando?

Uber's page says that "in Orlando and Washington, DC, Uber Car Seat rides are equipped with an IMMI GO seat." The 5 to 65 lb range in Uber's Car Seat FAQ describes the Nuna RAVA used in other cities, not Orlando's seat.

The IMMI GO is forward-facing. Lyft's help page lists it for children 22 to 48 lb, 31 to 52 inches tall and at least 2 years old, and Orlando Parenting Magazine reported the same limits for Orlando's Uber seat. In practice, it suits one child of roughly 2 to 5; infants and rear-facing toddlers need their own seat.

How to book Uber Car Seat in Orlando

  1. Open the Uber app and set your pickup and drop-off.
  2. Scroll the vehicle types and select Car Seat.
  3. Choose a pickup date and time. The $10 surcharge is added to the price.
  4. When the car arrives, check the installation yourself and buckle your child. Uber says parents are "solely responsible" for both.

Does Lyft have car seats in Orlando?

No. Lyft says its car seat rides are "currently only available in New York City," so Lyft car seat availability in Orlando is zero as of October 2026.

The one exception is Disney's Minnie Van, which you request in the Lyft app inside Walt Disney World Resort. Each Minnie Van seats up to 6 guests and has 2 child safety seats that Cast Members can install, but it only serves select Disney locations, such as Disney Resorts Collection hotels and the Swan and Dolphin. The Minnie Van airport service is limited to Deluxe, Deluxe Villa and Club Level guests; our Disney Minnie Van vs a group van guide covers its cost and who can book.

Can you take an Uber with your own car seat in Orlando?

Yes, but you install it and the driver can say no. Uber's rules say riders traveling with young children must provide a car seat, and drivers may refuse the ride if a child has none. Uber adds that trips canceled because a rider lacks a required car seat "may incur a cancellation fee." If you bring your own seat, you are responsible for installing it and securing your child. A few practical tips:

  • Practice a seat-belt installation at home. You won't know the car in advance.
  • Bring a light travel seat. You'll carry it through the terminal and on every ride.
  • Expect a rushed curb. MCO says vehicles "may not be stationary unless actively loading passengers and/or baggage." Installing two seats with tired kids is hard under that clock.
  • Plan for width. Three car seats often won't fit across one back seat, so several kids in seats usually means an UberXL.
  • Plan for boosters. Neither Uber's nor Lyft's car seat option includes a booster. NHTSA advises keeping kids in a booster until the adult belt fits. Our guide to car seat rental at Orlando airport covers renting one.

Uber Car Seat availability in Orlando: why it isn't guaranteed at MCO and Disney

Uber Car Seat is real, but it's one seat in a limited pool of cars. Here is where families get stuck:

  • Reservation only. You book a pickup time before you land, so a late flight or a long bag-claim wait can throw the ride off. MCO suggests allowing 20 minutes after landing, or 40 with checked bags.
  • One seat per car. Siblings who both need seats can't ride in one Uber Car Seat trip.
  • Forward-facing only in Orlando. No option for a baby under 2.
  • Airport pickups are less reliable. A parent blog that has tested the service calls MCO pickups "a little more of a mixed bag" than around Disney, above all very early in the morning or late at night.
  • Surge pricing. Third-party estimates put peak MCO-to-Disney rideshares at $120 to $180+ per car.
  • Luggage. An UberX holds 4 riders. Add a stroller and suitcases, and see how much luggage fits in an UberXL.

If you use Uber, pick up at the Arrivals Curb on Level 2 at Terminals A and B, or Level 6 at Terminal C; our MCO Terminal C pickup guide has the details. If a car seat is non-negotiable, and for a baby it should be, book a ride where every seat is confirmed before you fly.

Do you need a car seat in an Uber in Orlando?

Yes, by Uber's own rules: riders with young children must provide one. Florida's child restraint law, Fla. Stat. 316.613, requires a crash-tested, federally approved restraint for children 5 and younger: a separate carrier or integrated seat through age 3, and a carrier, integrated seat or booster at ages 4 and 5.

Subsection (6) sets a separate rule for hired vehicles and makes compliance "the obligation and responsibility of the parent, guardian, or other person responsible for a child's welfare." In a rideshare, plan on the seat being your job. Safety guidance goes further than the law: NHTSA recommends rear-facing as long as possible, a booster until the belt fits and the back seat through age 12. This is general information, not legal advice; for the full rules, read our Florida car seat law for visitors guide.

For two adults and one toddler, Uber Car Seat usually costs less, if you can reserve it. From 4 or 5 riders with two or more kids in seats, compare the per-person column: the gap is small, and you stop carrying seats through the airport. For the big groups, Mears Connect would run about $165.57 for the 10-person group and $233.20 for 14 (if every child is 3 to 9, fuel surcharge included), with shared-shuttle stops and limited car seats.

What we recommend for families of 4 to 14

  • One child aged 2 to 5, short hops around Disney, light bags: Uber Car Seat, reserved ahead, is a fair choice.
  • A baby under 2 or a rear-facing toddler: bring your own seat, or book a car service that confirms an infant seat in writing.
  • Two or more children in car seats or boosters: a 6-passenger minivan or SUV from a car service with car seats, with a seat for each child, from $99.
  • Groups of 7 to 14, such as grandparents or two families: one private 12- or 14-passenger van shuttle from $159 instead of two or three cars.
  • Very early or late-night arrivals: Uber Car Seat is hardest to find then, so book a ride ahead. Late flight? We adjust your pickup to your flight's new time (send us your flight number).

Does Uber have car seats in Orlando?

Yes. Orlando is one of seven U.S. cities with Uber Car Seat. Each car has one IMMI GO seat, rides must be reserved in advance, and Uber adds a $10 surcharge.

Does Lyft have car seats in Orlando?

Not through Lyft's own car seat mode, which Lyft says is available only in New York City. Inside Walt Disney World Resort, Disney's Minnie Van, requested in the Lyft app, carries 2 child safety seats.

How much does Uber Car Seat cost in Orlando?

It adds $10 to the regular fare. Third-party estimates put an UberX from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney at $35 to $70, so expect about $45 to $80 before tip, and more during surge.

Can I get Uber Car Seat at Orlando International Airport (MCO)?

Sometimes, but don't count on it. Uber Car Seat is reservation-only with one seat per car, and parents report that MCO pickups are less reliable than rides around Disney. If you must have a seat, bring your own or book a car service with seats confirmed.

Can a baby ride in an Uber Car Seat in Orlando?

Not a baby under 2. Orlando's Uber Car Seat rides use the forward-facing IMMI GO, which Lyft's help page lists for children at least 2 years old, 22 to 48 lb and 31 to 52 inches. Babies need their own rear-facing seat.

Can I bring my own car seat in an Uber or Lyft in Orlando?

Yes. You install the seat and buckle your child, and the driver can decline the ride if they are not comfortable. Uber says a trip canceled because a rider lacks a required car seat may incur a cancellation fee.

What if we need two or more car seats?

Uber Car Seat supplies only one, and Lyft's car seat mode isn't offered in Orlando. Bring your own seats, rent them, or book a private ride: we bring a seat or booster for each child in a 6-passenger minivan or SUV from $99 or a 12- or 14-passenger van from $159. Car seats and boosters are priced when you book.
