Cruise and Port Canaveral
Is There a Free Shuttle from Orlando Airport (MCO) to Port Canaveral?
On this page
Short answer
No. Orlando International Airport (MCO) lists no hotel shuttle, bus or shuttle van for the 42 to 45 mile trip, and puts a taxi at about $115. Shared shuttles cost $19.99 to $29.99 per person and cruise-line buses $37.99 to $45. A private JOB minivan, SUV or 12- or 14-passenger van is one flat price per vehicle, from $159.
Is there a free shuttle from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral?
No. Neither the airport nor the cruise lines run a free shuttle to the port. MCO's ground transportation rate table marks hotel shuttle, local bus and shuttle van as "N/A" for Port Canaveral, and its cruise transfers page lists only paid companies: Busy Traveler, Cocoa Beach Shuttle, Go Port, Mears and Sunward Tours.
The route is 42 miles (MCO's figure) to 45 miles (Visit Space Coast), about 45 minutes to an hour east on SR 528, the Beachline Expressway. More detail: how far Port Canaveral is from Orlando Airport.
Is Go Port a free shuttle to Port Canaveral?
No. Go Port is a paid shared shuttle that charges $29.99 per person each way between MCO and Port Canaveral.
- Where: check in at the Go Port desk in Terminal A, Level 1, next to the car rental counters.
- When: shuttles leave MCO between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, and greeters seat you on the next available one. If your flight lands after 12:00 PM, you need other transport.
- Booking: same-day online booking closes at 12:15 PM.
- Kids: infants count toward your party size, and Go Port does not provide car seats.
Two shuttles cost less. Happy Limousine charges $19.99 per person, with departures at 10 AM, 11 AM and 12:30 PM from Terminal B, Level 1; it does not wait for delayed flights, and you bring your own child seats. Cruise Control charges $25 per person. These are the cheapest shuttle fares from MCO to Port Canaveral we found.
Two ways to get to Port Canaveral almost free
Neither is truly free, but both skip per-person fares.
1. A one-way rental car and the rental office's cruise shuttle
Rent a car at MCO, drive to Cape Canaveral and return it at a port-area office that shuttles cruisers to the terminals. Enterprise's Port Canaveral office at 710 Mullet Rd serves cruise passengers only, and its free shuttle runs every 25 to 30 minutes from early morning until 3 PM. What it really costs:
- One day's rental, plus any one-way drop or mileage charge.
- Fuel, plus tolls on SR 528.
- Limited hours: the office listed 7 AM to 4 PM when we checked, and the shuttle stops at 3 PM. Hours change, so confirm before you book.
It suits 1 to 4 travelers happy to drive. Groups of 7 or more would need a 12- or 15-passenger rental van and a volunteer driver: compare 15-passenger van rental vs a van with a driver.
2. Fly in the day before and use a hotel or parking shuttle
Arriving a day early gives you a buffer against flight delays. Some port-area hotels and off-site parking lots run cruise shuttles, and some stay-and-cruise packages bundle a hotel night with transfers. Ask whether the shuttle is free and when it leaves.
You still need a ride from MCO to the hotel: about 45 miles to the Port Canaveral area, or 51 miles to Cocoa Beach. We drive MCO to Cocoa Beach too.
Is there a train or bus from MCO to Port Canaveral?
No. There is no MCO to Port Canaveral train, and MCO's rate table lists no local bus. Brightline trains from MCO run south to West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami, with no stop on the Space Coast.
The City of Cocoa has set a 2030 target opening date for a planned Brightline station, but more funding, planning and construction are still needed, and Cocoa is not the cruise port.
MCO to Port Canaveral cost: every option compared
Expect $19.99 to $45 per person for shared rides, $62 to $120 per car for rideshare, about $115 for a taxi, and one flat price per vehicle for a private ride. Fares as of October 3, 2026, one way:
| Option | One-way price | Charged | Timing and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Happy Limousine shared shuttle | $19.99 | Per person | Leaves MCO at 10 AM, 11 AM and 12:30 PM; can't wait for late flights |
| Cruise Control shared shuttle | $25 | Per person | Shared; also picks up at airport hotels |
| Go Port shared shuttle | $29.99 | Per person | Leaves MCO 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM; flights after 12 PM need other transport |
| Carnival motorcoach | $37.99 | Per person | Flights must land by 12:00 PM; runs 10 AM to 1 PM |
| Disney Cruise Line motorcoach | $45 | Per person | Starts 10:00 AM; land by 11:30 AM |
| UberX or UberXL | $62 to $78, or $95 to $120 | Per car | On demand, with surge pricing; Go Port reports $100 to $150+ in cruise season |
| Taxi | About $115 | Per trip | Taxi stands at Terminals A, B and C |
| JOB private minivan, SUV or van | From $159 | Per vehicle | Up to 6, 12 or 14 riders; leaves when your group is ready, and your driver meets you inside the terminal |
JOB prices include tolls and MCO airport fees, and gratuity is optional. Uber figures are RideWise estimates; the taxi fare is MCO's approximate figure.
What does the whole group pay?
Per-person fares grow with every rider; a vehicle price does not. Totals assume full fares, rounded to the dollar (Disney Cruise Line charges ages 3 and up).
| Riders | One JOB vehicle | JOB per person | Happy Limousine | Go Port | Disney Cruise Line | UberXL |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Minivan, $159 | $39.75 | $80 | $120 | $180 | 1 car, $95 to $120 |
| 6 | Minivan, $159 | $26.50 | $120 | $180 | $270 | 1 car, $95 to $120 |
| 8 | 12-passenger van, $229 | $28.63 | $160 | $240 | $360 | 2 cars, $190 to $240 |
| 12 | 12-passenger van, $229 | $19.08 | $240 | $360 | $540 | 2 cars, $190 to $240 |
| 14 | 14-passenger van, $249 | $17.79 | $280 | $420 | $630 | 3 cars, $285 to $360 |
One JOB vehicle costs less per person than Disney Cruise Line's bus from 4 riders up, Carnival's coach from 5 riders up, and Go Port at 6 riders and from 8 up. The $25 and $19.99 shuttles stay cheaper until about 10 and 12 riders, if you land in time. Two non-surge UberXLs can also come in under one van for 7 to 12 riders, though that splits your group and your bags. At 14, the van is the lowest price in the table.

What is the cheapest way to get from MCO to Port Canaveral?
It depends on your group size and when you land.
- 1 or 2 travelers landing before about 11 AM: a $19.99 to $29.99 shared shuttle is cheapest, and we will tell you so.
- 3 or 4 travelers: an UberX can match shuttle seats if your bags fit. A private minivan costs more, but the price is fixed and we bring car seats on request.
- 5 or 6 travelers: a private minivan or SUV costs about the same as, or less than, Go Port seats, and goes straight to your terminal.
- 7 to 14 travelers: one 12- or 14-passenger Ford Transit keeps everyone and every suitcase together, door to door, from $17.79 per person. Uber would need 2 or 3 cars. See our private group shuttle in a 12- or 14-passenger van.
- Landing after noon: shared shuttles and cruise-line buses are mostly out, so book a private ride, a rideshare or a taxi.
Can you fly into Orlando on cruise day?
Yes, if you land by late morning. Disney Cruise Line transfers need you on the ground by 11:30 AM, Carnival's by 12:00 PM, and Go Port sends anyone landing after 12:00 PM to other transport. A JOB van or SUV has no timetable: we leave when your group is ready, and your cruise line still sets the boarding cut-off.
Allow about 20 minutes after landing to reach the curb, or 40 minutes with checked bags. Sailing Royal Caribbean or Carnival? See Royal Caribbean and Carnival transfers from MCO.
Is there a free shuttle from Port Canaveral back to the airport?
No. The same paid options run in reverse. Royal Caribbean, for example, says guests who booked their own flights are responsible for their transportation to the airport.
- Timing: most ships dock between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. Disney Cruise Line's earliest MCO departure is 11:15 AM, and Carnival's no earlier than 12:50 PM. See the earliest flight after a Port Canaveral cruise.
- Book ahead: Port rules say commercial fares must be pre-arranged and pre-paid, and rideshare estimates surge 1.5 to 2 times between 7:30 and 9:30 AM on debarkation mornings.
- Late flight? We can hold your bags after the cruise while you visit Kennedy Space Center or Cocoa Beach, then drive you to MCO.
Same flat price as the trip out: Port Canaveral to Orlando Airport after your cruise.
Which vehicle fits your group and your cruise luggage?
Cruise bags are big, so tell us your suitcase count when you book.
| Vehicle | Seats | Suitcases | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minivan | Up to 6 | Ask us | Couples and families of 4 to 6 |
| Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Suburban SUV | Up to 6 | Ask us | Families of 5 or 6 with car seats |
| Ford Transit 12-passenger van | Up to 12 | Ask us | Two families, groups of 7 to 12 |
| Ford Transit 14-passenger van | Up to 14 | Ask us | Reunions and groups of 13 or 14 |
Traveling with kids: car seats on the way to the port
Go Port and Happy Limousine do not provide car seats. We install car seats and boosters on request: tell us each child's age and weight when you book, or read about our Orlando car service with car seats.
Our standard follows NHTSA guidance: children ride in the back seat at least through age 12, stay rear-facing as long as possible, and use a booster until the seat belt fits. Florida's child-restraint statute covers children 5 and younger. See also Florida car seat law for visitors. This is general information, not legal advice.
