Cruise and Port Canaveral
Disney Cruise Transportation Cost: Disney Cruise Line Bus vs a Private SUV or Van
On this page
Short answer
Disney Cruise Line transportation costs $45 per person each way ($90 round trip) for ages 3 and up, from Orlando International Airport (MCO) or a Walt Disney World resort to Port Canaveral. A family of 8 pays $360 one way. A private ride is one flat price per vehicle: from $159 for up to 6, or $229 for 12, from MCO.
Below, we price every Disney cruise transportation option by party size, so you can see where the bus stops being the better deal.

How much is Disney transportation to Port Canaveral?
It costs $45 per person each way and $90 per person round trip, whether you start at MCO or a Walt Disney World resort hotel. You can add transfers when you book, in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, or by phone at least three days before you sail. Only a limited number may be sold at the airport.
| Guests age 3 and up | One way | Round trip |
|---|---|---|

| 4 | $180 | $360 |
| 6 | $270 | $540 |

| 10 | $450 | $900 |
| 12 | $540 | $1,080 |
Disney Cruise Line transfer cost vs a private van, per person
The bus charges by the seat, and a private ride charges once for the whole vehicle. MCO's own cruise-transfer page puts it simply: taxis charge per trip, shuttles per person. One way, tolls included, gratuity optional:
| Riders age 3 and up | Disney bus total | JOB vehicle | From MCO | Per person | From a Disney resort | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $90 | Minivan | $159 | $79.50 | $179 | $89.50 |
| 4 | $180 | Minivan | $159 | $39.75 | $179 | $44.75 |
| 6 | $270 | Minivan | $159 | $26.50 | $179 | $29.83 |
| 8 | $360 | 12-passenger van | $229 | $28.63 | $249 | $31.13 |
| 10 | $450 | 12-passenger van | $229 | $22.90 | $249 | $24.90 |
| 12 | $540 | 12-passenger van | $229 | $19.08 | $249 | $20.75 |
| 14 | $630 | 14-passenger van | $249 | $17.79 | $269 | $19.21 |
What the numbers say:
- 1 to 3 riders: the Disney bus is cheaper.
- 4 riders: one private vehicle already costs less per person. From a Disney resort it is close, $44.75 each against $45, so decide on luggage and schedule.
- 5 to 14 riders: one private vehicle costs clearly less than the bus. A full 14-passenger van from MCO is $17.79 each, well under half the $45 fare.
Under-3s ride the bus free, so the bus totals count only riders 3 and up. In a private vehicle, babies in car seats need a seat too. Six riders with a lot of luggage may need the SUV or a van instead of the minivan; tell us your bag count.

Disney cruise transportation from a Disney resort: how it works
On embarkation morning, Disney collects your tagged bags from your room and delivers them to your stateroom by midafternoon. Disney emails departure details the night before, and resort buses usually leave around 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Expect the bus to stop at several resorts, at a time Disney sets.
After the cruise, the bus drops you at your resort, not at a theme park. A private ride leaves when you choose and goes straight to your terminal, with an optional grocery or snack stop on the way. See our private Port Canaveral to Disney World transfers for that route.
MCO to Port Canaveral with Disney Cruise Line: the airport transfer
If you bought Disney Cruise Line transfers, collect your checked bags at baggage claim first. From Terminals A or B, go to Side B, Level 1 Ground Transportation. From Terminal C, go to Level 6 Baggage Claim.
Transfers begin at 10:00 AM, so an early flight means waiting at the airport. With a private ride, your driver meets you inside the terminal with a name sign when you land.
Disney's airport transfers run from MCO only. Flying into Orlando Sanford instead? See Sanford Airport to Port Canaveral. Full route details: Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral transportation.
Orlando has no cruise port of its own, so Orlando-area Disney sailings leave from Port Canaveral, about 42 to 45 miles east of MCO. Sailing with another line on a future trip? Compare Royal Caribbean and Carnival transfer options from MCO.
Is Disney Cruise Line transportation worth it?
For couples and small families who want Disney to handle their bags, yes. For 4 or more riders, a private SUV or van costs less per person. It also suits kids in car seats and anyone staying off Disney property, and it runs on your schedule. Traveling solo or as a couple and watching every dollar? What the Disney bus does well
- Hands-off luggage. Tagged bags go straight to your stateroom.
- Early terminal access. Bus guests may be admitted to the terminal earlier and may get an earlier boarding group.
Where it falls short
- The price grows with your party. Eight riders pay $360 each way.
- Fixed times and several stops. You leave when the bus is ready.
- No car seats. Little ones ride on a lap or in a regular seat.
- Few pickup points. No pickups at Universal, International Drive, Kissimmee vacation homes or Orlando Sanford (SFB).
- No detours. No grocery run on the way in, no Kennedy Space Center on the way out.
- Rolling returns. After the cruise, buses leave once the ship clears customs, generally between 7:30 and 9 AM.
| Your situation | Better choice |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 riders, no car seats | Disney Cruise Line bus |
| 4 to 14 riders | Private SUV or 12- or 14-passenger van |
| Kids in car seats or boosters | Private ride with seats installed |
| Staying off Disney property or flying into SFB | Private ride |
| Afternoon or evening flight home | Private ride with a baggage hold |
How to get a good boarding time without the Disney bus
Bus guests can get earlier terminal access, and we won't pretend otherwise. You can close most of the gap with timing:
- Pick an early Port Arrival Time. Complete online check-in as soon as it opens for your sailing. Disney asks every guest to arrive during their designated Port Arrival Time; guests who arrive early wait outside, where seating and shade may be limited.
- Time your pickup to the start of that window. From MCO or a Disney resort, leave about 90 minutes before it opens: roughly an hour of driving plus a traffic cushion.
- Hand bags to the porters. Porters take checked bags at the terminal curb. Attach your Disney Cruise Line luggage tags before you arrive so bags are routed to your stateroom.
- Know your terminal. In the Port's 2026 to 2027 schedule, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish and Disney Treasure sail from Cruise Terminal 8, and Disney Wish also uses Terminal 10 on some dates. At Terminal 8, drivers meet guests at the curb, and every fare must be pre-arranged and pre-paid.
Debarkation day: Disney ships usually return by 7:30 AM, and staterooms are vacated by 8:00 AM. Tell us whether you'll use Express Walk-Off and we'll set your pickup to match. If debarkation runs late, your driver waits for you. For the ride back, see Port Canaveral to Orlando Airport.
Disney World and cruise combo: what every transfer costs
A Disney cruise and Disney World combo has three transfers, or four if you go back to Disney after you sail. The Disney bus covers only the legs to and from the port, and Disney resort stays don't include airport transportation. Pre- and post-cruise hotel transfers booked through Disney Cruise Line cost extra too. Land first, then sea:
| Leg | By bus, per adult | JOB SUV, up to 6 | JOB 12-passenger van |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. MCO to a Disney resort | Mears Connect, about $18.66 | $109 | $159 |
| 2. Disney resort to Port Canaveral | Disney Cruise Line bus, $45 | $189 | $249 |
| 3. Port Canaveral to MCO | Disney Cruise Line bus, $45 | $169 | $229 |
| Total | About $108.66 per adult | $467 | $637 |
| Per person, full vehicle | Same per adult | $77.83 | $53.08 |
The bus column uses Mears Connect's $17.60 adult fare plus its 6% fuel surcharge. By bus, that is about $652 for 6 adults and $1,304 for 12. Disney's Minnie Van won't carry a big group either: its airport service seats up to 6 and serves only Deluxe, Deluxe Villa and Club Level guests.
The fourth transfer: heading back to Disney after the cruise? Port to resort is $45 per person on the Disney bus or from $179 with us, and the final ride is our Disney World to Orlando Airport transfer. For the first leg, see Orlando Airport to Disney World.
